Pentz snags Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors

WILLIAMSPORT – A pair of Lycoming College football players were honored by the Landmark Conference on Monday, Oct. 20, as first year defensive lineman Yahseam Stokes earned the conference’s Defensive Athlete of the Week award and senior Ryan Pentz – a Central Mountain graduate – took home the conference’s Specialist of the Week honor.

The pair teamed up for arguably the most pivotal play of the contest, with Stokes blocking a 27-yard field-goal attempt and Pentz scooping up the loose ball and racing 75 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter that put the Warriors in front, 35-17. Pentz also added four tackles, including a tackle for loss.

Pentz, who also starts in the secondary in addition to his special teams duties, has 44 tackles, three tackles for losses, a fumble recovery, and an interception. His touchdown on Saturday was his second special teams score of the year, after recovering a muffed punt snap in the end zone on Sept. 13 at Montclair State.

Stokes and Pentz are the third and fourth Warriors to earn Athlete of the Week this season, joining junior Terrence Oliver, who earned Offensive Athlete of the Week on Sept. 22 and Oct. 7, and first-year Christon Mitchell-Brown, who was Defensive Athlete of the Week on Oct. 7. Pentz is the first Warrior to earn Specialist of the Week since kicker Kyle Flack was honored on Sept. 30, 2024.

Starting at $3.69/week.
