LHU virtual graduation an inspiring celebration

More than 22,000 people (and counting) have watched the virtual graduation of Lock Haven University graduate and undergraduate students of the Class of 2020 on Facebook.

That’s a testament to the tremendous support of and loyalty to this outstanding university.

As photos, names and degrees of the graduates streamed across the screen, the sense of accomplishment … and hope … grew ever more real.

Professional Science Master.

Master of Health Science.

Master of Science.

Bachelor of Science.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Associate Science in Nursing.

Over and over these and many other degrees were conferred.

But the degrees in nursing, health science and science stood out at a time when we need young people like these to step up and step out into the world to fight for us all … using science to combat and defeat disease.

Lock Haven University is known for health sciences and its degrees in nursing and for physicians assistants.

These critical workers are among those on the front line against the coronavirus.

You can still watch the ceremony online at any time — and we encourage you to do so!

Bravo, LHU.

Well done.

Thank you to LHU President Dr. Robert Pignatello for your leadership and thanks to retired LHU President Craig Dean Willis for your wonderful words as guest speaker.

In particular, thanks to student speaker Hayleigh Elizabeth Swam, whose inspiring remarks included this: ”In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”

Congratulations, graduates.

Be bold. Be courageous. Be your best.

If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.

Follow your passion.

Soar like the Bald Eagles you are.

As Dr. Pignatello said, “A better tomorrow belongs to you.”
