A simple wish for the New Year

We want to keep our wishes for 2021 pretty simple so let’s just offer this: We fervently hope and wish that the grand gesture of a handshake will return.

Oh, we do like the elbow bump meant to protect us from this awful virus, but nothing is like a grateful handshake as a greeting or affirmation of respect or a job well done.

We miss greeting our friends, colleagues and patrons with a handshake.

Of course, a handshake isn’t good without looking into the person’s eyes and sharing a mutual greeting, or that big smile that’s now hidden by masks that protect us from COVID-19.

“How are you?” is another part of the handshake, showing you care about the person.

In lieu of the handshake, what if we all started bowing as a form of greeting until this pandemic is over?

Bows are the traditional greeting in East Asia, but are also a feature of respect, apology or gratitude.

Can you imagine walking down the street and seeing people bow to each other? It would be very inspiring to most of us.

Our point is: 2020 is gone and 2021 — a New Year — is here and with it we all should look for “The Bright Side” of life.

There is much to be hopeful for … and hope is the air we breathe. We hope you enjoy some wonderful poems we found to share below.
