We're delighted to hear that Castanea Township is planning its first Community Day through its recreation committee to bring residents and visitors together in appreciation of the quality of life here.
The event is set for tomorrow, Saturday, July 24. Activities include a 5K Walk/Run on the burgeoning Bald Eagle Valley Trail, educational exotic animal show, vendor fair, open house at the Castanea Fire Co., a hot sausage sandwich sale, and a free concert featuring the Frosted Mini Wheats.
"We are attempting to meet the diverse recreational and social interests of our residents and all of those who live in our county. Castanea Township is a great place to live and work. We hope this Community Day showcases Castanea Township," declared recreation committee chair and volunteer Rick Schulze, chairperson of the Castanea Township Recreation Committee.
The days starts at 9 a.m. with the 5K walk/run. Volunteers expect 20 vendors, an open house at the fire hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a vehicle demonstration.
The popular 1941-era Caboose used as an Airbnb will host tours. The local Moose Lodge is participating with food sales, and the famous Clinton Central Model Railroad Club layout can be seen by locals and visitors alike.
Community is a central theme to this event, of course.
Many towns in our region hold gatherings and events and they matter.
Afterall, what better way to build community than to bring neighbors and strangers together to share mutual appreciation, respect and pride.
