Bucktail beautiful

1 min read

The very-much-needed internal and external upgrades to Bucktail Area Middle and Senior High Schools is an investment in the future of western Clinton County.

It also was -- finally -- recognition that the school had been neglected for far too long.

At last week's re-dedication ceremony, someone suggested it had been 50 years since such an injection of significant tax dollars was spent on Bucktail -- the ongoing work should total about $7 million when all is said and done.

Geesh …

New heating and air conditioning units.

New windows.

Extensive upgrade to classrooms.

Renovations of staff offices.

A facelift to the library.

A neat, new facade at the entrance.

A new roof.

School boards have an obligation -- a mandated responsibility -- to make sure schools are up to code.

That their classrooms are properly equipped and maintained to maximize and motivate an atmosphere of learning.

We applaud the 10-year facilities plan undertaken by the Keystone Central School District administration.

The people of this rural, beautiful mountainous region of our world deserve safe, clean and up-to-date schools.

Starting at /week.
