They're at it again.
The most benevolent Giosue Carducci Lodge 146, Sons and Daughters of Italy has just given away $45,150 to 24 non-profits, programs and community oriented projects from January to March through the Sons' gambling proceeds.
From drug and alcohol prevention to education.
From Wounded Warriors to youth playing soccer.
Multiple Little Leagues.
Ronald McDonald House helping families of children needing critical health care.
Infant development.
Church programs.
Special Olympics.
A veterans park renewal.
The United Way.
Swimming pool rehabilitation at the YMCA.
The food bank.
The historical society.
These are among the beneficiaries of the Lodge's benevolence.
That charity begins with club members who patronize the lodge.
Their spending is managed by a volunteer board that disburses the funds to community organizations and institutions.
Every soda, beer, wine or liquor served at the Lodge builds a pot of money to be contributed.
The $45,150 is not all the Lodge gives. It gives more money.
It also hosts dinners as fundraisers for various causes.
The spaghetti is terrific!
The Lodge, ike many social clubs, is required to give a good portion of its revenue to charity.
Lodge 146 never hesitates.
On its web page, the Lodge has a very nice welcome.
What caught our eyes was this: Every dollar you spend in our club helps to make a difference. The Sons proudly support many charitable endeavors in our community every year because we care.
Grazie, Sons and Daughters of Italy, for your many, many wonderful gifts to the community!
