Congratulations to Miller's Furniture of Mill Hall for its 40th anniversary!
It takes a lot of hard work, sacrifice and, frankly, know-how to run and sustain a business for 40 years.
Jerry Blanchard and his late wife, Sandy, did just that.
The beauty today is that the family continues to own and operate the local business at 3064 Eagle Valley Road with Jerry's "kids" -- his son-in-law Dave Meyer; Dave's son, Zach, and Wendy Hockenberry, Dave's sister.
And we love their new motto of calling Miller's the local "Hometown Sit and Sleep Store."
Yepper, locally owned and family owned.
Can't beat that.
"It's a family-owned business and we are truly all like family here. We currently have three generations working here at the store. It makes the job easier," Meyer told The Express for our Page A1 centerpiece in the July 16 edition.
The Express has had a long, long relationship with Miller's and we can tell you that the family has great integrity and truly values their customers.
Jerry has been the best to work with and his dedication to the business over all of these years prior to his retirement is inspiring.
Jerry and family embody strong family values, work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
"Fun, very knowledgeable and very kind" is how the newspaper's sales representative, Vicki Buckle, describes Jerry.
And, she adds, "Jerry and the family also go above and beyond for customers."
