LH JAMS puts punctuation on concert series

2 min read

It has been a very robust and sensational summer concert series in Lock Haven thus far.

More than 20 concerts when all is said and done later this summer.

Throw in the "Side Street Saturday" events and there's even more music.

As we said at the beginning, you can call Lock Haven "Music Haven."

The sponsoring body -- the City of Lock Haven -- along with Clinton County, the Clinton County Community Foundation, media sponsors, an anonymous sponsor and the many sponsoring businesses should be proud of the series as it entertains thousands each year -- all for free!

As the music played, so was born the Clinton County Arts Council's, LH JAMS Music and Arts Festival.

That festival -- now in its seventh year -- begins tonight with a ticketed event at the Roxy Theatre to help the council raise funds for this annual event on Main Street. Tonight's concert precedes a block party on Friday night with various bands, and then music will resonate pretty much all day Saturday and into the night.

If you attended last year, the outstanding band that played Motown tunes was electrifying.

You can expect more of the same with this year's music.

It is also an arts festival, so arts and crafts vendors will line the streets to showcase their skills and product. Vendors will open at 10 a.m., rain or shine, with music to begin at noon. Two stages, one at the Elks and another at the intersection of Grove and Main, will offer continuous entertainment well into the evening.

The concert series and LH JAMS are the result of partnerships among the previously mentioned organizations.

Kudos to the city and city staff for the hard work that goes into organizing the concerts and seeing them through each and every week during the series.

Congratulations to the arts council for also recruiting outstanding talent to play here.

We encourage the parties to continue to work together to strengthen the series and the Jams to attract locals and, more importantly, visitors to this wonderful little city along the river.
