Welcome to August 2023!
Time flies, doesn't it?
Whether it's work, play, family, friends, travel ... the minutes pass like rain drops.
And as we enter the last official month of the summer of 2023, don't let the grass grow under your feet because there's a lot to do!
Let us just mention a few things.
Concerts on Friday, Saturday or Sundays whether in Lock Haven or Bellefonte.
On the floating stage or in the parks!
Summer Sounds, Bellefonte calls it.
Free is the keyword for both series.
And don't forget the Clinton County Fair, which began last Saturday and runs through this Saturday night at the fairgrounds off Route 220 near Mackeyville.
On a very special note, Lock Haven will play host to the National Canoe Races and dozens if not hundreds of out of area and out of state visitors come Aug. 9-14.
Canoe-kayak competitors could start arriving this coming weekend.
The competition kicks off Aug. 10 on our beautiful West Branch of the Susquehanna River and the very unique waterfront here in Lock Haven!
The city will play host to a range of people from various states and countries as we welcome participants in the U.S. Canoe Association's (USCA) National Canoe & Kayak Marathon Championships!
What an honor!
The Corman Amphitheatre would be a great viewing venue!
Race coordinators Dan and Deb Glover say people from 18 states, Australia and Germany are signed up.
Clinton Countians, let's all work to be the best hosts ever!
This four-day event will overlap with LH Jams! (www.lhjams.org).
It is formally known as LH Jams & Arts on Main Street to be held Aug. 10, 11 & 12.
Get ready for some outstanding music and musicians!
What an electric event! York Street Hustle is back.
And featuring a number of outstanding artists, including Central Mountain's own Jazz Cats at noon at Main and Grove!
The Unstoppable Hack Beats. You Do You. James Supra and the Sarah Ayers Band.
These are just a few, culminating with The B-Street Band, a tribute to "The Boss" Bruce Springsteen, on Saturday night, Aug.12.
Can't wait!
Also on tap is the long-standing and fun Centre County Grange Fair at Centre Hall starting Aug. 18.
Whew. We're exhausted already ... but ready to go and have fun!
