Applause, Applause!
Each Saturday, The Express community newspaper highlights people, groups and activities our readers deem worthy of applause.
A big THANK-YOU to the crew at the Elks Lodge in Lock Haven for their kindness and special attention given the Lock Haven High School Class of 1962 last Saturday night. The group held their 55th reunion there, and said the food was wonderful and so was everything else about the evening. They said they’ll be back.
On Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11, a Minor A girls softball tournament was held at Woolrich Park for my senior project. I would like to send out a THANK-YOU to everyone who participated, from the four teams that played, their coaches, family and friends. To the sponsors who were very generous with their donations. To the umpires, announcers, scorekeepers, concession workers, pasta salad makers, and field crew.
Thank you to the teams that participated. The teams were from Clinton, Jersey Shore, Montgomery, and Woolrich. Congratulations to the winners — Farmers Insurance from Jersey Shore. Thank you to the coaches, family and friends who came out to cheer on all the girls!
Thank you to the sponsors who generously donated to make the tournament a success. Your generosity will help future ball players make great memories in Woolrich Little League, as I have. These sponsors are Allstate Insurance — Hollie Keohane, Carson V. Brown II, DDS, Becky Conklin, Clinton Controls, Faber Burner, First Quality, Jamie’s Sunrise Cafe and Avis Original Italian Pizza, Karm’s Taxidermy, Lock Haven Plumbing and Heating, Mountain Electric, Natalie’s Crafts and Collectibles, Pepsi Bottling Company — Chipp McCann, Benson W. Probst Excavating, Restless Oaks, Saars Tree Service — Mike Saar, Thompsons Meats, and Wayne Township Landfill.
Thank you to the umpires who donated their weekend to stand in the hot sun to umpire all the games. The umpires are Brody Baker, Toby Butler, Andy Connor, Eric Frank, Garett Hamberger, Turner Mader, Matthew Probst, and Bailee Renninger.
Thank you to the announcers and scorekeepers who kept everyone informed of the batting line-up, balls, strikes, and runs. They are Madelyn Bechdel, Becky Dunlap, Cortney Hamberger, Maddi Knepp, Tara Mader, Luke Nonemaker, Brayden Shaffer, and Morgan Wetzel.
Thank you to the concession workers and pasta salad makers. You kept everyone fed, hydrated and happy! They are Katie Bechdel, Teresa Carlson, Dusty Conklin, Kim Ergott, Patti Knepp, Shelby Mancini, Cicily Nonemaker, Chris Probst, Heather Renninger, Melanie Stratts, and Julia Weller. Thank you to Teresa Caimi and Brenda Probst for the pasta salads!
Thank you to the field crew. It was rough starting out the day with an early rain storm, but it all came together once it was time to start the games. They are Jeff Love, Art Nonemaker, Luke Nonemaker, and Chad Shaffer.
Lastly, two special thank-yous, the first to Shelly Bowman, president of Woolrich Little League, who agreed to to be my mentor for my senior project. This would not have been a success without your help and guidance. The second is to my parents, Art and Cicily Nonemaker, for all that they did to help with the project.
Thank you again and I hope I did not miss anyone!
— Riley Nonemaker
