A group running for the Bellefonte Area School Board is using the slogan "Save Our School," or S.O.S. Their spokesperson claims that the district is heading in the wrong direction, that our kids are being indoctrinated, that school is not transparent enough and that our schools are not leaving parenting to the parents.
The irony of this scare tactic is this group already holds a voting majority on the board. Logic would have it that if, indeed, this district needs saving, the current majority bears the responsibility for the problem.
How can more members of the same group solve these imagined problems? It is nonsensical.
I encourage the public to not fall for this scare tactic but to research the candidates and decide for themselves. When they do so, they will find strong candidates, including myself, who can solve real challenges with integrity and diligence.
I am confident that the voters of the BASD will make the right decision when reviewing the candidates. They will see through the smoke screen and choose candidates that are focused on making the schools the best they can be for students, teachers, staff and the community at large rather than a small group with a clear political agenda.
