Yaw’s PIPE dream is a nightmare

The Community Page story on Jan. 18, 2024 concerning a Pa “PIPE” Grant for the project to repurpose the Lycoming Mall property should raise a few red flags.

The creation of the “PIPE” Subsidy/Award program by Senator Gene Yaw and his cronies is one more example of multiple conflicts of interest and quid pro quo legislation to unfairly restrict the playing field for clean renewable energy, while increasing profits for the wealthiest industry in Pennsylvania.

Yaw and many of his colleagues in the Capitol receive huge “campaign donations” from the Fossil Fuel Goliath that enjoys the ongoing de-regulation and defunding of DEP, which hamstrings inspection and compliance!

Additional financial conflicts in the form of gas lease royalties and stock ownership obviously create the optics of corruption that demand ethics investigations at the very least!

Other forward looking options are available and a better fit for new construction and retrofitting projects that will create jobs, provide clean, affordable energy and better protect the health and safety of Pennsylvanians and our Planet.

A few nearby wind turbines and a massive solar array atop the refurbished mall would benefit all parties.

Starting at $3.69/week.
