It's no surprise Donald Trump returned to Pennsylvania to peddle twaddle to anyone gullible enough to buy it. None of Trump's blabbering stands out more than his dishonesty about America's energy production under Biden-Harris.
I live in the heart of Marcellus shale drilling operations in Susquehanna County. My township is saturated with natural gas wells that have benefited many landowners and our economy. Lately, however, there's been a marked slowdown in drilling activities that has nothing to do with the current administration's energy policies. The only thing stopping gas companies from drilling more wells is the gas companies themselves.
As they recently told shareholders, gas companies are reducing drilling operations due to "market conditions," which is energy industry language for, "We flooded the market and now our return-on-investment is too small to keep drilling full speed ahead."
As for Trump's false claims about domestic oil production, the U.S. Energy Information Administration says oil production is at its highest level in United States history. We're now the world's leading producer of crude oil, surpassing Saudi Arabia and Russia. Despite what Trump tells his blind followers, record level oil production has continued under the Biden/Harris administration.
That didn't stop Trump from attempting to extort $1B in campaign contributions from oil company CEOs during their recent visit to Mar-a-Lago, proving, once again, that he's for sale to the highest bidder.
Sarah Palin famously coined the phrase "drill, baby, drill." The next time Trump repeats such nonsense, remind him how things worked out for Ms. Palin.
