The most serious problem with a second Trump term is not that he is unfit to be president. He was unfit to be president during his first term too. The most frightening problem with a Trump re-election is that, unlike those who surrounded him in his first term, the people who will surround him this time around are unfit too.

For the most part, the people around Trump during the first term did not carry out his most destructive unconstitutional and illegal ideas. This time around, the White House and all the Federal agencies will be filled with the very people who believe in his autocratic views on governing as the preferred form of leadership as much as he does.

A second Trump term will be Trump's playground and the American people's worst nightmare. As the first President of Tanzania, Julius Nyerere once said: "When leaders become rulers, democracy becomes history."
