What I frequently hear coming from Democratic Party politicians and supporters is that former President Donald Trump is a threat to democracy. Nearly all the time, they don't give a reason for this criticism.
During his first term in the Oval Office, I never saw him as a threat to democracy. What I did see was a constant criticism of his work by Democratic Party politicians, particularly California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and New York State Senator Chuck Schumer, regarding anything that Donald Trump did. All the criticism done with the help, assistance and encouragement of the mainstream media.
What I do see is that the greater threat to democracy comes from the majority of the current members of Congress and the Administration of President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. This threat comes in the form of the current Congress and Presidential administration's spending practices. It would be interesting to know how much the current Congress and the White House can get away with deficit government spending before the American economy crashes, just like the Soviet Union did in the late 1980's.
I recall when the national debt reached $30 trillion early in Biden's Administration. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said words to the effect that President Biden supports a responsible fiscal policy. That was about two and a half years before the current national debt reached over $35 trillion dollars. In a few short years, the Biden Administration added over $5 trillion to the national debt. I'm not inclined to believe that it constitutes a responsible fiscal policy.
The dishonestly named Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan are just two examples to which I refer. The only Rescue Plan Americans need is to rid itself of as many of the current members of Congress and the White House as possible this election season, including our own Senator Robert Casey who supported everything Joe Biden did when it came to reckless spending.
