My America

As a child I was taught to love, honor and cherish this country. It was a country where we worked out our differences. A country where there was not so much hatred as today. A country where I had the privacy between my doctor and myself to decide what was right for my body. A country where we looked after one another. A country where we did not think any job was too menial, like field work, janitorial, etc.

Now businesses are still looking to hire because no one wants to work, no matter what level the job is. I was taught to honor vets and to remember those who did not survive wars, not to call them suckers and losers. A country that aided those afar in times of need. A country where we learned the history of our country (and the constitution) and that of other countries are well. A country where we were taught about democracy vs. dictatorship.

And now? Things will change.

No more privacy with my doctor who took an oath. My body will now be watched by politicians who do not even know me nor care about my health if I should suffer a miscarriage. Now we will no longer care for or about one another. Now we will hate each other more rather than working out our differences. Now companies will be leaving the country for lower wages or just shutting down -- look at the Rust Belt.

Now our lives and those of our allies will be in peril because he wants to take us out of NATO. Now our climate will be only worse because "there is nothing to climate changes." Now any health care you have, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, will either be taken away or reduced. Now our food will probably become scarce or limited in supply due to the fact that the big farms will go bankrupt while our food rots in the fields because they don't have migrant workers for the fields (which many think to be beneath us.)

So much for the America I was raised in. It is no longer the land of the free and the brave. It is the land of a dictator.
