Response to Mail Pouch Tobacco mural, Renovo

Lock Haven

As the owner of a downtown Lock Haven address (Simon Building, at 130-134 E. Main St.) with a fading painted tobacco advertisement, I cannot agree with the Mail Pouch Tobacco, Renovo, March 22, letter requesting to keep the Renovo tobacco sign alive. My sign reminds me of the pain my father endured; a tobacco user, who suffered and died from its use.

Why not support a mural of the beautiful Central PA landscape in the fall? Or of kids floating the Susquehanna River on a summer day or a springtime hillside covered with a herd of grazing PA elk? Instead of an era I am glad has mostly passed, I'd suggest we show our people the beauty they can experience in our area now.

I welcome having someone contact me with a request to paint over the old mural with something that reflects a better vision of our area.

Starting at /week.
