This Friday, June 6 -- D-Day -- rallies will be held nationwide to support our veterans as they face serious threats to their care and livelihoods.
Currently, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) plans to cut 83,000 jobs--17% of its workforce--in the next few years. With veterans making up 25-30% of the federal workforce, these cuts will hit them especially hard. Many of the jobs on the chopping block are in the Veterans Health Administration, which provides direct health care to veterans.
The VA claims these cuts, along with AI-driven reforms, will boost efficiency without reducing services. But veterans' groups warn the opposite--fewer jobs and less funding will mean delayed care and reduced support, especially for our most vulnerable veterans. On top of the VA cuts, proposed reductions to SNAP (food stamps) and Medicaid will further harm veterans--including those right here in Clinton County and across Pennsylvania.
The Unite for Veterans Coalition is calling for nonpartisan "Unite for Veterans, Unite for America" rallies to defend veterans' jobs, benefits and the democratic values they fought for.
Join us on Friday, June 6, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., in front of Lock Haven City Hall.
Stand up. Speak out. Show veterans they are not alone.
After the rally, call Rep. GT Thompson and Senators McCormick and Fetterman.
Tell them: NO cuts to VA jobs. NO cuts to VA funding. Veterans deserve better.
