Keystone Central School Board position

Vicki L. Adams

Mill Hall

I read the article in the recent Saturday-Sunday Express regarding filling the position of Region IV seat on the Keystone School District Board of Directors. One application within the deadline was received. Two applications were received one or two days after the deadline. It was noted by Superintendent Redmon that there is no set law or procedure preventing the board from considering the applicants. Later in the meeting former school board member Roger Elling stated the board had accepted late applicants in previous instances.

Apparently, a decision will be made by the KC Board of Directors on the appointment to fill a vacant seat for Region IV on Jan. 15.

I feel the present three applicants should receive the same consideration regarding their strengths, weaknesses, competency, past employment, etc. It isn’t like the doors are being beaten down with applicants, since the turnover of board members is quite high at Keystone Central School District. For the board to pass on the opportunity to give due diligence in picking a replacement because of a non-existent rule regarding deadlines and taking the easy way out is disappointing, unjustified and disgraceful.

Starting at $3.69/week.
