Our 47th president can't convince Americans who have rational minds and good educations to accept his anti-republican policies, so he must resort to money hand-outs that look and smell a lot like bribery.
Alexander of Pherae in ancient democratic Greece paid mercenary soldiers and handed out bribes to sustain his tyrannical rule. Our 47th President is doing something similar in once democratic America. For example, he made appreciation payments to active military personnel so they might think about turning their attention to domestic enemies of the president when the time is right.
His latest promised payment, of course, is $5,000 to every adult American if the electorate manages to keep MAGA in power in the House and Senate in November 2026.
He plans to pay for this $1.3 trillion offer to the American people by using the piggybank created by his illegal tariffs or else leaning heavily on the already preposterously high annual national debt.
Here are a few of the other promised money handouts in his second term, most of which have not come to pass:
1.) $500 cash payments to one million Obamacare holders before November to offset losses in premium tax credits and so they will love him as much as they loved Obama come election time
2.) $2,000 tariff-related cash payments to poor and middle-class Americans to compensate for cuts in SNAP food benefits and rising prices in the economy and so they will vote for MAGA in 2026
3.) DOGE "dividend" checks of as much as $5,000 to return some of the federal Musk government efficiency savings to the people
4.) $9,000 checks to stay-at-home moms to help them with childcare
5.) Up to $50,000 signing bonuses and/or student loan forgiveness to ICE agents so they will do MAGA's shady deportation dealings and act like a private army at his command
6.) A 10% consumer interest rate cap on credit card debt in the months before the 2026 election
7.) $1,776 payments to 1.4 million American military "warriors"
8.) Payments to offset soybean farmers for their losses to Argentina due to the President's tariff boondoggle
9.) $10,000 rewards to air traffic controllers who didn't sluff work during the government shutdown
10.) $1,000 tax-free "Trump account" grants to children born in the next few years
11.) Direct payments to employee "health savings accounts" to allow folks to buy private health insurance
In the days of the American "Wild West," candidates during election time offered free booze to low lifers to vote for them on election day, until laws were passed to stop this practice. Similar laws against paying people to vote and many other forms of bribery are in place today.
Our President, on the other hand, does not just hand out gifts, he takes gifts too, like the $400 million jumbo jet given to him by the King of Qatar and donation payments to help him build his new East Wing from corporations who want government contracts.
In addition, he likes to protect friendly international politicians who take money in exchange for favors, too. He pardoned a high-level Honduran politician who took bribes to overlook drug smugglers operating out of his country.
All this reminds of the Mexican drug cartel slogan, "Take our silver or take our lead," meaning take our bribes or die a violent death. The Trump slogan, on the other hand, runs something like this: "Take my silver, or watch out for the FBI, U.S. Marshals, Secret Service, ATF, or ICE at your front doorstep."
