Bladder prolapse causes discomfort in 68-year-old woman

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am a 68-year-old female who’s in great health, except for cholesterol levels that are a tad high. In January, I was diagnosed with a prolapsed bladder. My gynecologist said it was stage 1, and therapy will be able to help. I’ve been through physical therapy and done pelvic floor exercises, but they don’t seem to be helping. Is a bladder prolapse uncommon? I don’t have any other female friends who’ve experienced this. I’m more often than not very uncomfortable with the discomfort and “bulge.” I’m a very active person with gardening and house chores, ...

$2 trillion — and no excuse

The federal government just closed fiscal year 2026 with a deficit of nearly $2 trillion, according to figures the Congressional Budget Office released last Thursday. Only the two pandemic years of 2020 and 2021 were worse. Today, though, there is no recession and no emergency. These enormous budget deficits are the new normal. The usual response to a deficit warning is that the government just needs more money. It doesn’t. Thanks to the remarkable strength of the private sector, federal revenue rose by 3%, to more than $5.4 trillion, over the fiscal year. But spending rose by 6%, ...

Dear Annie: Affectionate brothers

Dear Annie: My daughter is single and raising two sons. Her husband died in an automobile accident four years ago. I am worried about the relationship between her sons, “Steven,” 16, and “Frederick,” 10. I think they are too close and too affectionate with each other. Steven is very protective of Frederick, and Frederick worships his big brother. When I visit them or they come to my house, they cling to each other. They are constantly hugging and even kissing, which I honestly find a bit disgusting. Sometimes they watch TV together cuddled up on the sofa. I have even seen ...

Has Trump broken his McDonald’s promise?

The defining moment of the 2024 presidential campaign, it can be argued, came almost exactly two years ago, on Sunday, Oct. 20, when then-former President Donald Trump traded his suit coat for a yellow apron and worked the fry station and the drive-thru window at a McDonald’s. His staff picked a propitious location in the battleground state of Pennsylvania: lower Bucks County, just south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and about a mile west of U.S. 1, suburban turf settled a generation or two ago by the sons and daughters of blue-collar ethnic communities in northeast ...

Trump’s final humiliation of Lindsey Graham

Dear Lindsey, Your body had not long been in the grave when your pal Donald Trump made the anti-Russia legislation that carried your name a nullity. Wondering how you’d feel about this if you were around to see it. The whole point of your last decade of life was the belief (or was it a rationalization?) that by truckling to Trump you could do more good than you could have by opposing him. In your final hours, you reportedly joked that “I can’t die now. I still need to do the Russia sanctions, get Iran sorted out and do Israeli-Saudi normalization.” That was the Graham ...
