Central Mountain’s girls soccer team hasn’t played since August and it showed as they visited a very strong Shikellamy team. The Braves started fast as they put four goals past the Wildcats in the opening 15 minutes.
Shell shocked, the Wildcats did put one past the home side as Taylor Campbell slipped a ball into the attacking third for Lily Hendricks.
The senior opened her senior scoring campaign by slotting it past Shikellamy’s keeper. The half ended with one more goal for Shikellamy.
The second half was more of the same as the home side kept the Wildcats pinned in their defensive end and created chances often. The home team found the net five different times again in the second half. The Wildcats had difficulty maintaining shape, organization and a defensive edge and felt the pressure often from the home team.
With it being only the second game of the season, it was evident the long lay-off from heat restrictions and weather didn’t help Central Mountain in preparation against a team now playing their sixth game of the season.
Central Mountain will look to rebound with a trip to Altoona next. The Wildcats will look to avenge a loss to Altoona last year.
