LHU standout Young enters transfer portal

Following a historic junior season, standout Lock Haven wide receiver T’iar Young has decided to enter the transfer portal, he announced via his Twitter on Friday. Heading into the 2025 season, he has one year of eligibility remaining.

Since transferring from Millersville, where he finished his freshman season with 222 receiving yards and four touchdowns, to Lock Haven, Young has been a force for the Bald Eagles, accumulating over 1,800 yards and 17 touchdowns through two seasons with the program.

As a redshirt-junior, he tied the program record for most receiving touchdowns in a season with 11 and finished second all-time in receiving yards in a season with 1,146. In both seasons with the team, he led the team in all receiving categories, closing out his sophomore season tied for first in receptions (31) while leading the team outright in yards (663) and touchdowns (6).

He heads into his final season of eligibility with aspirations of moving up a level to Division I, having finished his junior season ranked No. 5 in receiving yards and tied for No. 12 in touchdowns in all of Division II football.

On Twitter, he expressed gratitude to Dan Mulrooney and his coaching staff for giving him an opportunity to prove himself and to the Lock Haven community for all its support.

“Alhamdulillah for the good and the bad, I want to first start off by saying thank you to Coach Mulrooney and his family for giving me the opportunity to come to LHU and be the baller that I am,” said Young. “I also want to thank the Lock Haven community for supporting me for these past two seasons, it has been nothing but the best and I know that this program is in wonderful hands.”

He joins at least three Bald Eagles that are currently scoping out other opportunities, with redshirt-freshman running back James Bermudez, true freshman offensive lineman Richard Scott and senior linebacker Oscar Uduma also entering the portal this week.
