Ostrowsky throws 5 TDs as LHU beats Shippensburg
LOCK HAVEN — Trailing early, the Lock Haven football team scored 35 points in the second quarter and the offensive surge helped the Bald Eagles power their way past Shippensburg (2-8, 1-6 PSAC East), 42-21, today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division action.
Jackson Ostrowsky, T’iar Young and Chris Hicks led the way on offense for the Bald Eagles.
Ostrowsky, the PSAC’s top quarterback, threw for 329 yards and five touchdowns. The five passing TDs came up one short of tying Lock Haven’s single game record.
Young hauled in nine catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns, both of which came in the second quarter. Hicks also pulled in a pair of TD catches, both in the second quarter as well. KJ Howard broke off a long touchdown run to help highlight the offensive explosion in the second quarter.
Lock Haven led 35-14 at halftime and Corahn Alleyne capped The Haven’s scoring with an 18-yard pass-play from Ostrowsky late in the fourth quarter.
Howard finished with 107 rushing on just nine carries as his day was highlighted by a 64-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter.
The Lock Haven defense was also a big part of the victory today and Rocco Daugherty fueled the dominance with a game-high 11 tackles. Davien Vernon added 10 tackles and Oscar Uduma finished with seven.
Darryl Pollard had an interception and the Bald Eagles’ game of takeaway was key again with two forced fumbles. Izzy Ramos was credited with a pair of fumble recoveries to go along with his six tackles.
Justin Anderson finished with one tackle-for-loss which pushed his career total to 33, tied for the second most in career history at Lock Haven.
Through 10 games, Ostrowsky has 2,925 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns and he’s averaging 292.5 passing yards per game, which leads the PSAC in all three categories.
Ostrowsky’s five TD-effort today pushed his season total to 25 passing touchdowns which is now the No. 1 single-season mark in school history. His 2,925 passing yards are the fourth-most in school history for a single-season.
Young went over 1,000 receiving yards today and sits No. 3 all-time for a single-season with 1,034 yards. Young has 10 TD catches this season, the second-most ever for a single-season at Lock Haven. He also now has 16 career receiving touchdowns, the fourth-most in school history.
Prior to the start of today’s games, the Bald Eagles honored their seniors in Alfred Manyeah, Ouon Williams, Kasir Henry, Jahmel Flowers, Mister Hogue, Rhys McDonald, Jacob Sturm, Tony Nicassio, along with the aforementioned – Anderson, Hicks, Pollard and Howard.
With the win, Lock Haven moved to 4-6 overall and finished PSAC East play at 3-4. To date, all three wins came at home as The Haven finished the 2024 season 3-2 at Hubert Jack Stadium.
