LHU baseball endures road defeat at hands of Bloomsburg
BLOOMSBURG – The Lock Haven baseball team returned to action on Tuesday afternoon by making the short trip to Bloomsburg for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East vs. West non-conference game. The Bald Eagles fell to Bloomsburg 10-5.
Lock Haven moves to 10-6 overall. Bloomsburg improves to 5-6 on the season.
After racking up 10 wins through the early spring schedule, the Bald Eagles were announced as the No. 8 team in this week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Region rankings.
In Tuesday’s outing, Bloomsburg used a four-run fourth inning to build a 5-1 lead.
Lock Haven responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth and sixth inning, however, Bloomsburg erased the Bald Eagles comeback attempt with five runs of their own en route to a 10-5 victory.
Bryce Vincent, Morgen Billotte and Jake Ambrosio scratched hits for the Bald Eagles. Vincent and Zachary McEllroy drove in runs via back-to-back bases loaded walks in the fifth. Connor Griffin and Ethan Nagy picked up RBIs for The Haven.
Starting on the rubber for Lock Haven was Nagy, who tossed three strong innings, struck out one and allowed one earned run.
The bullpen followed up with six innings pitched, with the one scoreless inning thrown by Evan Schmelz.
