Bitner is victorious in front of hometown crowd at Clinton County Speedway

Local driver Timmy Bitner charged his way thought the field, making a late race pass to win the RaceSaver Sprint Cars opening day honors at the Clinton County Speedway located just over 10-miles from him home.

Bittner also won on opening day in 2023. AJ Hoffman won the pro stocks, Jeffrey Weaver of Lock Haven on won the 270 micro sprints and Matt Weaver won the four-cylinder feature event.

Thirty-four RaceSaver sprint cars were signed in for competition on Friday night. Four qualifying events and a consolation qualifier were required to determine the 24 starters for the 25 lap main event.

Josh Beamer of Picture Rocks and Jim Pattock brought the field to the green flag. Beamer and Pattock battled for the top spot with Pattock taking command of the field by the completion lap number four. By the completion of lap five, Pattock was leading Beamer, Dustin Prettyleaf, Dreck Swart and Johnny Smith.

On lap 10, Bittner who started 11th had worked his way into the top five.

As Pattock continued to lead the field, a fierce battle for second place had developed. Beamer and seventh-place starter Mikey Smith raced side by side for several laps. As the two raced through Turns 3 and 4 on lap 16, the two touched resulting in Beamer spinning and bringing out the caution.

Pattock led the field for the restart with Smith, Bittner, Prettyleaf and John Walp running in the top five.

A four-car incident on lap 19 bunched the field up once again. With Pattock in the lead, Smith and Bittner challenged each other for the second position. On lap 23, Bittner secured second place as Pattock was looking for his first career win. However, the caution flag waved on lap 24 created a one lap shoot-out for the winner and providing Bittner with an opportunity.

As the field raced back to the green flag, Bittner made his move to lead the final lap and claimed the win. Smith crossed the line second but was light at the scales, allowing Pattock to finish second followed by Walp, Jeffrey Weaver and Jacob Gomola. Sixth through tenth were Mike Koehler, Dale Schweikart, Jared Zionkowski, Kruz Kepner and John Scarborough.

Defending pro stock champion, AY Schilling of Linden started on the pole for the feature event. Schilling took the lead with fourth-place starter, Cory Long of Selinsgrove moving into second by the completion of lap three. Sixth-place starter AJ Hoffman moved into third place by lap four. The top three were in a competitive battle with Hoffman moving into second on lap 12.

As the laps whined down, Schilling maintained the lead until the final laps in the final turn, as Hoffman made the pass for the win over Schilling Long, Tommy Dawson and Larry Knight.

In the 270 micro sprints, Alex Lukacs led the field to the green flag. On lap five, Jeffrey Weaver emerged as the new race leader. On lap six, Cory Stabley, who started sixth, took over the runner up postion.

Stabley would close in on Weaver and was within striking distance. The field was slowed down on lap 12 for an incident in turn three.

Following the restart, Weaver would hold off the challenges of Stabley to secure his first win of the season, over Stabley, Lukacs, Tyler Clowes and Logan Hammaker.

Larry Beachel took the early lead in the four-cylinder feature event. On lap four, Matt Weaver raced his way to the front of the field with Coty Maines glued to his rear bumper, shuffling Beachel to third. The top three ran in close contention for the remainder of the event with Weaver holding on to visit victory lane.

Maines finished second, Beachel was third, followed by Kyle Strouse and Garret Lucas.
