PSU’s Allar selected for Manning Award Watch List

UNIVERSITY PARK – Penn State senior quarterback Drew Allar was named to the Manning Award watch list on Thursday.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ postseason performances in its balloting. The winner will again be selected by a voting panel, which includes national media and each of the Mannings, after the postseason.
Allar has already been named to the Davey O’Brien Award, Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Player of the Year Award watch lists. Prior to the upcoming season, he was selected as an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection by the coaches and media in 2023 and 2024, as well as being named a Davey O’Brien Award Semifinalist last season.
Throughout his career, Allar has completed 63-percent of his passes for 6,302 yards and 53 touchdowns, while adding 560 rushing yards and 11 scores. He’s one of nine returning FBS quarterbacks with 6,300-plus passing yards and 53+ passing touchdowns in their careers.
Allar ranks first all-time at Penn State in completion percentage (62.9) and interception percentage (1.19) and holds third at Penn State with 53 career touchdown passes and a 144.0 passing efficiency, while ranking fifth in completions (530), tied for fifth in 200-yard passing games (16), sixth in passing yards (6,302) and passing attempts (843), tied for ninth in yards per attempt (7.5) and 10th in touchdown pass percentage (6.28).
Among PSU quarterbacks, he ranks tied for sixth in rushing touchdowns (11) and tenth in rushing yards (543),sits in fourth all-time at PSU in touchdowns responsible for (64), fifth in total offense (6,862), eighth in wins by a starting quarterback (23) and tenth in starting quarterback win percentage (.793).
Since 1956, Allar joins Bryce Petty (Baylor, 2011-14) as the only FBS quarterbacks with 800-plus career pass attempts, 50-plus touchdown passes and ten or less interceptions. In 2024, he completed 262-of-394 passes for 3,327 yards and 24 touchdowns, while rushing for 302 yards and six touchdowns.
The finalists for the Manning Award will be selected prior to the postseason and the winner will be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
