Bucks look to get back on track at home

Coming off a tough, 35-0 loss at Moniteau last Friday, the Bucktail football team has a great shot to get back on track in Week 4. It’s facing a team – Coudersport (0-3) – that’s seen similar struggles to its own, with both squads experiencing shutouts at the hands of Moniteau.

It’s biggest key to success defensively will be hindering the play of do-it-all senior running back Preston Ayers. Against Otto-Eldred/Oswayo Valley last Friday, Ayers turned 17 carries into 97 yards and a touchdown and added four receptions for 56 yards in the 48-22 loss. It’s a performance the Falcons will certainly be looking to build on in Week 4.

The Bucks could also look to generate turnovers, with Coudersport having six through three games.

Junior quarterback Coleman Freeman has struggled, tossing five interceptions and completing just over 30-percent of his passes. But he has had success when throwing to Ayers and Caleb Wonderly, with the latter having four receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.

It’s been a tough start to the season for Bucktail (1-2), who won a winnable game by forfeit against Renaissance Academy two weeks ago and has been outscored 88-6 in its other two outings. But this should be a fun one for the young Bucks squad, back at home on a relatively even playing field.

Bucktail has been led by Corbin Pentz both in the air and on the ground. Pentz is 9 of 14 with 144 passing yards and a touchdown and leads the rushing attack wtih 53 yards on 22 carries. Teagan Stone has a team-high 117 receiving yards on four catches with a touchdown as well.

Starting at $3.69/week.
