At the District 6 girls tennis doubles tournament on Tuesday, Central Mountain had two players come up just shy of advancing.

Lane Walker and Lucy Walker lost to Mifflin County’s Maddy Clinard and Ava Kelley in three sets. After the Huskies duo won the first set, 7-5, Central Mountain responded with a 7-5 win to force a third set. That’s where Clinard and Kelley won, 10-6.

Central Mountain’s Audra Eaton and Kasi Williams lost a tough matchup to Altoona’s Ava Williams and Adalia Lapazoakes, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.

“I was happy with the way both doubles teams played today despite the losses. All four girls were first timers at districts,” Central Mountain coach Tom Zettle said. “I expect three of the four back next year with hopefully better results. Lane and Lucy Walker are freshmen with Kassie Williams being a sophomore.”
