Local roundup: CM, Bucktail tennis teams both earn wins
Central Mountain earned a 4-1 win against Shikellamy in girls tennis competition. Addison Lindsay continued her outstanding season by blanking Emory Underkoffler 6-0, 6-0, in straight sets.
Lane Walker of Central Mountain picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and at No.3. singles, Kassie Williams beat Emma Erdley, 6-1, 6-3.
Bucktail secured a 5-0 win against Cowanesque Valley. Eva Sockman defeated Mackenna Burdick at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and at No. 2 singles, Kendall Wagner defeated Holly Peters, 6-2, 6-1.
Lola English picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win for the Bucks at No. 3 singles over Ella Reed.
• Central Mountain scored twice in the second half in a ten-minute span and the Wildcats blanked Milton, 2-0, to improve to 5-2-2.
The loss drops the Black Panthers to 3-5.
Dylan Bechdel scored in the 51st minute for a 1-0 Central Mountain lead before Yayfran Sanchez made it a 2-0 game in the 61st minute. Central Mountain out-shot Milton, 14-5.
• Bellefonte competed in cross country at Richland with Chestnut Ridge and Bellwood-Antis.
On the girls side, Bellefonte beat Chestnut Ridge, 26-31, but fell to both Richland (21-40) and Bellwood-Antis (23-32).
Addy Fry and Natalie Jolley finished fifth and sixth, respectively, for the Red Raiders in 22:55 followed by Alynn Cernuska in 27:34. Emily Moretz ran a 27:51, Haddie Lutz ran a 28:05 and Megan Showers ran a 30:33.
Bellefonte also saw Molly Showers finish in 30:39.
On the boys side, Bellefonte beat Richland (26-30), Bellwood-Antis (24-32) and Chestnut Ridge (18-38) to go 3-0. Jonathan Gasper finished first overall with a time of 18:27 and was followed by Maverick Muchmore in 18;28.
Carson Fritchman ran a 19:08, Gunther Kull ran a 20:12 and Ethan Karmelita ran a 22:07. Bellefonte also sa Kaiden Musser finish in 22:36, Braiden Strohm finish in 23:33 and Phoenix Torres run a 23:43.
• Lily Warlow and Gianna Gamble scored and the Lock Haven women’s soccer team blanked Mansfield to earn a 2-0 victory. With the victory, the Bald Eagles improve to 1-2-1 in the PSAC East and 2-2-1 overall. Mansfield falls to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the East.
Warlow scored her first-career goal off a beautiful setup from Leana Cuzzocrea and Maci Shaffer. Gamble also scored her first-career goal, off a perfectly-place corner entry from Lauren Straub.
Lock Haven recorded season-highs in shots (25), shots on goal (13) and corner kicks (14). Five different Bald Eagles recorded two shots on goal.
