The Central Mountain golf team competed at District 6 Class AAA Sectionals at Sinking Valley Golf Course. Six teams with 40 participants competed. To move on to districts, participants needed to be ranked in the top ten.

Among the top ten was Central Mountain’s Michael Lodek, scoring a 78 in the round. He will compete at districts on Tuesday, Sept. 30. As a team, Central Mountain finished fourth in the match.

Michael Lodek, Reese Walizer, Blake Walker, Nolan Karstetter, Kai Fravel, Tucker Brungart and Jon Conway completed for the team.

• Central Mountain suffered a 6-0 loss to Lewisburg in girls soccer. In the second half, Central Mountain turned to its young roster, fielding a lineup made up largely of freshmen. Despite the effort and determination, the Green Dragons continued to press, adding two more goals to close out a 6-0 victory.

The Wildcats attempted to adjust their strategy after the break, looking to play the ball behind Lewisburg’s back line in hopes of creating one-on-one opportunities. A couple of free kicks provided brief scoring chances, but the Wildcats were unable to capitalize.

Bald Eagle Area struggled to get looks at the goal and fell in a tough loss to Bedford, 13-0. The Eagles managed just one shot on goal.

“Bedford is a great team. They do a lot of things well,” Bald Eagle Area coach Jared Moore said. “They make you pay for defensive mistakes and miscues. We just had too many today.”

• In boys soccer, Gabe Welshans scored the game’s lone goal off an assist from Dylan Hensler and Jersey Shore earned a close 1-0 win against North Penn-Liberty.

Orrin Pennycoff had two saves for the shutout.

• The Lock Haven volleyball team went on the road in its PSAC Eastern Division opener and defeated Bloomsburg, 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 18-25, 25-17).

Lock Haven dominated the opening set with 12 kills and two blocks, outscoring Bloomsburg 25-14. The Bald Eagles kept the momentum in the second set, upending the Huskies 25-20 behind 13 kills, four aces, and three blocks.

Lock Haven dropped the third set 18-25 before bouncing back in the fourth set with five aces and closing out the victory with a 25-17 score.

• Camden Marquette scored twice to lead the Lock Haven men’s soccer team to a convincing 3-1 victory in an away game at non-conference foe Daemen. With the victory, Lock Haven improves to 3-3-1 overall.

After a quiet first 40 minutes of the game, the Wildcats (1-7) scored to go up 1-0. With less than two minutes to go in the first half, Marquette tied the contest at 1-1 off an assist from Kyle Hoyt.
