Shore girls tennis drops tight match vs. Williamsport

On Monday afternoon, the Jersey Shore girls tennis team faced off against league foe Williamsport (3-6), a team it previous edged out in a thrilling match in early September. The rematch was just as thrilling, coming down to the final court.

In this case, it was the Millionaires who came out on top. Behind a sweep of doubles and Lilly Judge’s win on Singles Court Three, Williamsport edged out the victory over the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2.

For Shore (4-8), Josie Gerst kept up her stout play at Singles Court One, posting a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win over Williamsport’s Audrey Dincher. Julia Herman made it two straight-set victory for the Bulldogs in singles, winning 6-0, 6-2 on Court Two.

In doubles, the Millionaires saw a lot of success, dropping a combined nine games with both duos winning in straight sets. For the Bulldogs, No. 1 duo Azlyn Guerrero and Emily Shemory fought hard, falling two wins short of taking the first set or at least extending it to a tiebreaker.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, facing a strong Shikellamy team on the road.
