Bellefonte boys, girls finish top-three at District 6 Championships

The Bellefonte girls and boys cross-country teams had a strong showing at the District 6 Class AA XC Championships on a beautiful fall day for racing. Despite going into the race without two of their runners, the Bellefonte girls came away with a third-place finish, sitting only behind Central Cambria and Marion Center in the team standings. Individually, Addison Fry (19:31) and Natalie Jolley (19:39) finished second and fourth respectively and qualified for the PIAA XC Championships next weekend in Hershey. Rounding out the top-five for Bellefonte were Emily Moretz (23:54), Haddie Lutz (24:38) and Molly Showers (26:06). All dropped significant time setting new PRs on this course.

The Bellefonte boys continue to impress, finishing second and falling only to Central Cambria in the team race. Individually, Jonathan Gasper (16:07) battled throughout the race and finished eight seconds behind the eventual winner Ethan Haycisak (Central Cambria). Maverick Muchmore (16:56) was in a battle of his own to punch his ticket to the PIAA XC Championships in Hershey next weekend.

Rounding out the top seven for the Red Raiders were Carson Fritchman (17:34), Gunther Kull (18:21), Ethan Karmelita (19:19), Kaiden Musser (20:08) and Braeden Strohm (20:57). Again, all set new PR’s on this course.

In the Class AA junior-varsity boys race, Phoenix Torres ran a new PR on the course and finished 11th with a time of 22:00.

Next up, Addison Fry, Natalie Jolley, Jonathan Gasper and Maverick Muchmore will compete in the PIAA XC Championships in Hershey next Saturday. The Class AA Girls race will start at 10:15 a.m. and the Class AA boys race will kick off at 12:30 p.m.
