Local roundup: Shore girls soccer scrapes by Shamokin in overtime thriller

TIM WEIGHT/For the Express Jersey Shore freshman Sadie Schall (10) battles Central Mountain's Kendall Veltri (7) for possession during a girls soccer game on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, at Malinak Stadium.

On Thursday night, the Jersey Shore girls soccer team picked up its fifth win of the season in thrilling fashion, edging out Shamokin in overtime, 2-1. Jessalyn Millbrand and Sadie Schall scored the Bulldog goals, with Schall posting the game-winner in overtime. And Elizabeth Hollick assisted on both goals.

Cami Walker made it back-to-back games with 15 saves, as the Bald Eagle Area girls soccer team fell, 7-1, in a tough road matchup against Bishop Guilfoyle. Abby Hacker got the Eagles on the board with an early second-half goal, with Addie Tice assisting on the score.

“BG is a great team. They do all aspects of the game well,” said Bald Eagle Area girls soccer head coach Jared Moore on Thursday’s opponent. “We struggled against them last time, but I thought we played them better this time around. Addie Tice put a perfect corner kick on the money and Abby Hacker volleyed it out of the air for a great goal.”

Bald Eagle will look to bounce back against Moshannon Valley at home on Saturday, with that game set for 11 p.m. Jersey Shore returns home next week for its next game, hosting Muncy at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
