On Monday night, the Bucktail girls tennis team played host to Central Mountain. Though the Wildcats were missing No. 1 singles player Addison Lindsay, they still gave the Bucks a great match, falling by a score of 3-2.

For Bucktail, Eva Sockman and No. 1 doubles duo Kelsie Wagner and McKenna Bissman carried successful ends to last week forward, winning their matches in straight sets while dropping just six combined games. No. 2 singles player Kendall Wagner made it three points for Bucktail, defeating CM’s Lane Walker in two hard-fought sets.

For the Wildcats, Kassi Williams and No. 2 doubles duo Leah Wian and Tess Akeley were the winners, with Wian and Akeley winning in straight sets and Williams edging out Lola English in the three-set, 29-game match. There, Williams shook off a tough second-set, winning six of nine to scrape out the victory.

Though the Bulldogs fought hard against a tough Central Columbia team, winning two singles matches, a doubles sweep for the Bluejays helped them scrape out the 3-2 victory. Shore’s Josie Gerst and Julia Herman were dominant on Singles Courts 1 and 2, dropping a combined seven games in straight-set victories. But Central Columbia dropped just nine games outside those matches.

Shore returns to action with another road test at Montgomery on Tuesday.
