LHU women’s hoops routs Davis & Elkins in home opener

Madeline Evans and Alana Robinson recorded double-doubles to headline four Lock Haven women’s basketball players in double figures in the Bald Eagles’ 88-48 victory over Davis & Elkins in a non-conference game inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

Evans continued her monster start to the season and finished with a game-high 21 points and 16 rebounds. The junior went 6-of-7 from the floor and 9-of-9 at the charity stripe. And Robinson filled the stat sheet, finishing with 14 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, five steals and four blocks.

Jenadia Jordan and Rhlyn Rouse added 14 points each, while Jordan finished with five assists and three steals and Rouse chipped in eight rebounds and two steals.

The Bald Eagles stormed out to a 27-9 lead after the opening 10 minutes and never looked back. The Haven shot a red-hot 58 percent (11-of-19) from the field in the opening quarter.

Lock Haven outscored the Senators in every period, including 21-9 in the fourth quarter, highlighted by strong play from the second unit. Erin Miller and Mariah Shue combined for 15 points in just 17 minutes of action.

The Haven put together its most complete game through the early season and held advantages in second-chance points (14-3), rebounds (52-21), paint points (50-18) and points off turnovers (24-7).

With the victory, the Bald Eagles secured their first win of the season after a pair of tough losses to start against the best of the Mountain East Conference last weekend. They’ll remain home for their next contest when they host Frostburg State on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Thomas Fieldhouse for a non-conference game.

Starting at $3.69/week.
