Bellefonte wrestling loses close dual at Huntingdon
Bellefonte lost a close dual on the road to Huntingdon, 29-25, on Thursday evening in the Red Raiders’ season opener.
Bellefonte trailed 23-22 after Jackson Long earned a decision win at 189 for Bellefonte over Dominic Peruso, 10-4, but Huntingdon extended its lead with a fall at 215 by Landon Erdman over the Raiders’ Mason Englert in 1:47 to go ahead, 29-22.
Bellefonte’s Luke Hockenberry won at 285 to close the dual with a decision, 1-0, against Noah Metz, but it wasn’t enough to get the team win.
Blake Glace won at 121 for Bellefonte with a 5:04 fall over Ty Shieffield before Rylan Lucas pinned Carter Weaver in 1:08 at 127. Wyatt Long won at 145 for Bellefonte by earning a 9-4 decision over Christian Taylor.
One bout later at 152, Andrew Gall earned a 10-0 major decision against Huntingdon’s Luke Mykut which gave Bellefonte a 19-16 lead. However, Huntingdon’s Doug McKim (160) and Grady Clark (172) won the next two bouts to put Huntingdon back ahead.
Colin Harter of Bellefonte lost at 114 by major decision to Gaige Sholly, 15-5.
