On Thursday night, the Jersey Shore girls basketball team ran into a buzzsaw in the opening round of the Selinsgrove Tournament. Its opponent, Crestwood, got the ball rolling early, getting out to a 33-3 lead by the end of the first quarter, and never looked back, routing the Bulldogs, 79-17, to move on to Friday’s championship.

Marlee Lehman and Kylie Schall led the Bulldogs, notching four points each. And Avery Depasque contributed the team’s lone three-pointer on the night.

The Lock Haven women’s wrestling team welcomed No. 15 Elmira to Thomas Fieldhouse on Thursday night. The Bald Eagles made quick work of Elmira, winning 42-5. Lock Haven (6-3 overall) was powered behind three pins and three tech falls to take down the 15th-ranked team in the country.

Jayleah Pletz (124), Raegan Snider (160) and Lindsay Laws (207) picked up the pins. Summer Batts (103), Isabella DeVito (131) and Azariah Moore (180) won via tech fall. Anna Lackey (110), Journie Rodriguez (117) and Marissa Rumsey (145) all picked up forfeit victories.
