Penns Valley girls fall to Hollidaysburg, 68-47, despite three-point barrage
SPRING MILLS – Despite hanging with Class 5A power Hollidaysburg early thanks to strong three-point shooting, the Penns Valley girls basketball team slowed down in the second half, scoring just 16 points in the final two quarters and falling to the Golden Tigers, 68-47.
On the night, the Rams hit seven treys, a big factor in them going into halftime trailing by single figures. Sydnie Dalton was responsible for four of them, all of which came in the second quarter, and led the team scoring wise with 16 points. Paige Johnson notched 14 points while Elle Dinges and Jordan Johnson combined for 15 with the help of three threes.
For the Golden Tigers (2-1), just four impacted the scoreboard, but it was still enough for a comfortable win. Alana Lightner scored a game-high 32 points, Makenna Weimert added 18 and the pair combined to go 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
With the loss, the Rams dropped to 2-2 on the season. They’ll look to bounce back at Bald Eagle Area on Friday, with that road matchup set for 6 p.m.
