Bald Eagle Area saw a pair of wrestlers reach the third-place bout at the Mid-Winter Mayhem Tournament on Saturday as both Tanner Guenot and Caden Judice secured third-place medals at their respective weights.

Guenot won at 139 and Judice at 152. Bald Eagle Area’s Dawson Lomison took sixth at 145.

Guenot had a quarterfinal win against West Allegheny’s Thomas Bencho by decision, 9-2, to advance to the championship semifinals. In the semifinals, Guenot lost by decision to Cranberry’s Dalton Wenner, 7-2, and then turned around and secured a consolation win against Bishop McCort’s Owen McMullen by fall in the first period, 1:24, to secure a spot in the third-place final.

Wrestling for bronze, Guenot earned an 11-0 major decision win against General McLane’s Mason McDonald.

Judice had the same fate as Guenot, losing in the semifinals.

In the championship quarterfinals, Judice beat Greenville’s Kaysom Mataria by decision 2-2, UTB, and then lost to General McLane’s Clay Kimmy by decision, 4-3. That dropped him into the consolations where he beat West Allegheny’s Logan Slovick by tech fall, 17-2, 3:56. In the third-place bout, Judice earned a 4-1 decision against Mahanoy Area’s Rory Dixon.

Lomison fell in the fifth-place finals to Cathedral Prep’s Kamdyn Borrero in a tough matchup by decision, 1-0. Lomison lost in the quarterfinals to Northampton’s Trey Wagner by decision, 4-0. In the consolations, Lomison strung back-to-back wins by beating Marion Center’s Tyler Phillips by decision, 2-0, and Kyler See of North East, 5-1.

In the consolation semifinals, Lomison lost to United’s Jo Garshnick by decision, 1-0.
