In the opener on the night, Glendale defeated Westmont Hilltop to open up the night with the Vikings moving onto a solidly tough Penn’s Valley squad looking to continue its dual record in tact.

This one was over quickly as the Penns Valley squad defeated Glendale, 58-18.

In the match the Rams finished with eight pins, a tech fall and two forfeit wins on the night.

“They did what they have done all season, they all give their best efforts. It’s a good win for the guys in our district duals and we are happy to move on,” said Penns Valley coach Joel Brinker.

Starting the night at 189 pounds, it didn’t take long for the Rams to show as sample of what the night would hold. After running up a 10-0 third period advantage, Penns Valley’s Shane Rimmey pinned Lawson Richards at 5:52.

Penns Valley added more bonus points at 215 when Robert Martin was able to work Connor Oshall onto his back and notch the team’s second pin in as many matches at 3:49.

The Vikings cut the lead in half at 285 when the Glendale’s Dan Williams notched a quick pin over Luke Tannis in 50 seconds.

Penns Valley would also pick up consecutive easy bonus points.

At 107, Cayden Myers won by forfeit. Then at 114, teammate Blake Brumbaugh got his hands raised immediately as he also won be forfeit . Fresh off his 100th career victory, 121 pounder Conner Myers notched his 101st as he won by tech fall over Harrison Snyder, 15-0.

During the 127 match, Max Dinges methodically wore down his opponent Hunter Ammerman, pinning him in the first period at 1:25. At 133, Erik Carlile added his name to the pin list as he pinned Hayden Kohn at 1:40.

The momentum continued to be in the Penns Valley side, especially at the 139 as Tripp Watson won by tech. Fall Tanner Ammerman at 3:00, 17-2.

The Vikings notched a pin of their own at 145 when Ethan Gilbey was able to get the best of Isaac Harpster picking up the pin at 2:21, making it a g it a 46-12 contest.

But the Rams went right back to work at 152 pounds when Sawyer Fetterolf pinned Drue Storm at 1:50.

Seth Fetterolf continued his team’s momentum as he took care of the 160-pound weight class by pinning Glendale’s Landon Zendeck at 1:20. Rounding out the night at 172, the Vikings Dan Williams won by forfeit, making the final score a 58-18 contest.

Penns Valley will host round two Saturday evening to determine who will move onto the next level.
