LHU women’s basketball team clinches perfect record in PSAC East

LOCK HAVEN — The Lock Haven women’s basketball team made history on Saturday afternoon by soaring past Shippensburg, 76-60, to cap their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division schedule with an unbeaten record.

The Bald Eagles finished the regular season a perfect 16-0 in PSAC East play for the first time in program history and the first time by anyone in the division since 2018.

Lock Haven finished the regular season 22-5 overall and 18-3 in the conference, with an impressive 13-1 record at home. Women’s basketball has won over 20 games for three consecutive seasons. Lock Haven earned the Eastern Division’s top seed in the upcoming PSAC Tournament and will host the winner of No. 4 Edinboro and No. 5 California (Pa.) inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday at 6 p.m., with a chance to bring the final four back to Lock Haven with a victory.

The Bald Eagles used a decisive second-quarter run and a well-rounded offensive performance to pull away from Shippensburg in the second half, after falling behind early.

Jenadia Jordan orchestrated Lock Haven’s offense from start to finish, finishing with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and a game-high seven assists. The senior guard also contributed four steals, consistently disrupting Shippensburg’s halfcourt sets and turning turnovers into transition opportunities.

Rhlyn Rouse and Madeline Evans each added 16 points to give Lock Haven three players in double figures. Rouse grabbed 13 rebounds to complement her scoring, while Evans shot an efficient 6-of-7 from the field.

The game’s critical stretch came in the second quarter. After Shippensburg opened a 23-13 advantage, Lock Haven responded with a 20-6 run to close the half and take a 33-29 lead. Nufi Nemale-Djiegoue knocked down two three-pointers during the surge.

Lock Haven never relinquished the lead from that point forward, outscoring Shippensburg 43-31 over the game’s final two quarters and holding a commanding 43-24 advantage on the boards. Saturday was also the program’s senior day and the Bald Eagles honored Jordan, Robinson, Nemale-Djiegoue and Summer Tillett for their dedication and contributions to Lock Haven.

Starting at $3.69/week.
