Lock Haven’s Rouse named PSAC East Athlete of the Week for women’s basketball

Rhlyn Rouse of the Lock Haven women’s basketball team was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

The Haven, who has already clinched its third straight PSAC East Regular Season Title, has now brought home a conference-high 10 PSAC weekly awards.

The Bald Eagles (20-5 overall, 16-3 PSAC) are a perfect 14-0 in the Eastern Division and have already clinched a berth in the upcoming PSAC Championship Tournament. The Bald Eagles will host a quarterfinal contest on Wednesday, March 4.

Rouse stepped up in a huge way for the Bald Eagles this week and delivered a much-needed career-high 26 points in Lock Haven’s 70-59 victory over ESU on Wednesday to clinch the PSAC East regular season title.

Rouse added 19 more points on Saturday in a 65-53 victory at WCU to keep The Haven’s region bid hopes alive. Rouse also grabbed eight rebounds on Wednesday and seven more on Saturday. Rouse shot 18-30 from the floor and 9-12 from the free throw line on the week.

The Bald Eagles travel to Bloomsburg for their final road contest of the regular season on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
