LHU women’s track and field turns in strong performance at Jim Taylor Duals

SELINSGROVE – The Lock Haven women’s track and field team competed at the Jim Taylor Duals at Susquehanna University on Friday and Saturday. The Bald Eagles turned in a strong performance and earned more Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship qualifying marks.

Nicole Carroll won the 1500-meter run by finishing in 4:47.07 and earned a PSAC qualifying time.

Samantha Trench earned a PSAC qualifier in the 100-meter hurdles by finishing in 15.43 and taking third.

Trench also earned a PSAC qualifier in the high jump by clearing 5-4.25 (1.63m) and took second. Reagan Irons finished third by clearing 5-2.25 (1.58m).

The Bald Eagles continued their strong performances in the javelin. Olivia Spotts – a Jersey Shore graduate – and Maria Puglia reached PSAC qualifying marks. Spotts reached 136-8 (41.67m) and Puglia reached 132-6 (40.40m). Spotts took second and Puglia took third.

Clarissa Davis took third in the shot put and earned a PSAC qualifier by reaching a mark of 39-8.5 (12.10m).

Alyssa VanGorder earned a PSAC qualifier and second-place finish in the hammer throw and reached a mark of 148-8 (45.33m). Laurie Thompson took fourth in the event (144-0, 43.90m).

Natalie Gentzel, Caroll, Alexanne Fite, Makayla Grace Weber took second in the 1,600 relay. The quartet finished the relay in 4:05.47.

The 400 relay team of Lillian Bradley, Macy Plowman, Rain Collins and Trench finished second with a time of 50.79. Gentzel, Fite, Kelci Carle and Madison Bair took fifth (52.15).

Mallory Eck took third in the Discus Throw by reaching a mark of 116-9 (35.58m).

Elizabeth Shultz took fifth in the 400-meter run (1:00.64) and Rain Collins took sixth (1:01.91).

Weber took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles by finishing in 1:07.30. Gentzel took seventh (1:08.80) and Carle took eighth (1:09.15).

Kaydence Strange took fifth in the 5000-meter run by finishing in 18:47.13.

The Lock Haven women’s outdoor track and field team will compete again on Friday (April 3) and Saturday (April 4) at the Colonial Relays on the campus of William & Mary University.
