LHU’s Ross named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week
Lock Haven softball’s Talia Ross was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Ross was outstanding in the circle for three straight days for Lock Haven. The sophomore won all three starts, while striking out 8.5 hitters per game.
On Friday, Ross went 7 2/3 innings, struck out nine, didn’t allow a run and surrendered just two hits at Tusculum.
On Saturday, she pitched an eight-inning complete game shutout and struck out eight against a very good UVA-Wise team. On Sunday, Ross made it through the first six innings with one earned run and struck out nine hitters to allow Lock Haven to build an 11-1 lead at Emory & Henry. The southpaw picked up her team-high fourth victory on the year.
Through five starts, Ross is 4-1 with a 1.60 ERA and is second in the conference with 47 strikeouts.
The Bald Eagles (5-5 overall) remain on the road and will travel to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division affiliate Slippery Rock for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday, March 11.
