Spotts and Fisher showed constant determination for Jersey Shore
During this past boys wrestling postseason for Jersey Shore, there has been nothing but constant determination, drilling and effort carried into districts. Wrestling takes countless hours of practice all year around to get athletes to district competitions. Especially because District 4 Class AAA only allowed three qualifiers from each weight class to move on to states.
That made it much harder for the Jersey Shore wrestlers competing in the five-team Class AAA district field hoping to have made it to Hershey this past weekend.
As the 2025-26 wrestling season came to an end,, there are a few boys from Jersey Shore that heavily impacted the wrestling district brackets.
Louden Spotts is sophomore, weighing in at 152 pounds, with a freshman record of 25-16 in addition to a district title. During Spotts’s sophomore season of wrestling, he contributed to the team with a record of 32-10, earning yet another district title in postseason.
Spotts was asked how he has been training physically and mentally for the rest of his post season.
“I have been preparing my mental strength, and focusing on my conditioning, attending two practices a day, and of course building my relationship with God,” Spotts said.
Understanding how mentally and physically exhausting the sport of wrestling can be and knowing you’re alone on the mat, the pressure can grow to be very intense. Wrestlers also know that it is always important to have people in the stands and in your corner cheering for you.
When asked who has helped Spotts get where he is at today, the Bulldog noted “my dad has always been there for me through the ups and downs.”
Having support every match is one of the most important things.
Spotts shows what it’s like to be a Jersey Shore varsity wrestler on and off the mat. There are many boys on the varsity Jersey Shore team that affect the season, but a freshman that stands out and proves his ability to be on varsity is Gabriel Fisher.
Throughout the season, Fisher’s record shows how much determination he carries on that mat with him going 31-11. Going into the postseason, Fisher placed first at districts and earned himself a district title his freshman season,
“Practices were getting tougher and more intense, my diet was getting stricter, and my mentality is where it needs to be,” Fisher said about what his postseason prepartion looke dlike.
Fisher shows what it is like to earn everything by his hard work and dedication to this sport.
The Bulldog duo have earned their district titles by repetitive long practices and focusing mentally on what is important. Postseason is always an exciting time for wrestlers eyeing a run to Hershey, that is why it is important to have a good mindset on and off the mat.
Both Spotts and Fisher demonstrated constant effort and commitment earning their district titles this winter.
