WINGATE – They’re back.
Two of Centre County’s legendary softball programs renewed their rivalry for the first time this season as Bellefonte traveled to Bald Eagle Area on Monday.
When the two get together you can throw out the record book because you’re going to be in store for a battle and on Monday, Bald Eagle won this intense meeting over Bellefonte, 10-3, in the latest matchup.
“We are getting better from the first time you saw us, I think we’ve really improved that,” said Bald Eagle Area coach Don Lucas.
In the top of the first, the Red Raiders threatened after a lead off hit to right field by Sloan Moore. She moved over to third on an error on an Adrienne Masullo grounder. With runners on the corners, Bald Eagle hurler Carly Fisher struck out the next two and left the inning on scathed when Ella Herr grounded to second to end the inning.

Bald Eagle had some two-out magic going for themselves in the first. With two out,Kendal Gavlock took one for the team as she was hit by a pitch. She advanced to third on a single by Raelee Repasky.
Catcher Lilly Harter came up clutch hitting a shot into left, scoring Gavlock. Casey Angellotti continued the inning as she notched an RBI single into left, upping the score to 2-0. She would later score on Bellefonte miscue to head into the second leading 3-0.
The Eagles shut down the Raiders in the second, allowing only one to reach before shutting the inning down. Bald Eagle added to its lead in the second. Haylee Simpson was hit by a Bellefonte offering. She moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Addyson Burns. Maelee Yoder advanced Simpson to third on a sacrifice fly.
Raelee Repasky singled in Simpson to head into the third leading 4-0.
The Bald Eagle defense stood tall in the third. With Masullo on first after a lead off hit, Bellefonte hitter Riley Santostefano single into center bounced off centerfielder Angellotti and was scooped up by second baseman Yoder. Yoder gunned out Santostefano trying to advance to third.

Bald Eagle, a team known for manufacturing runs, did so in the bottom of the inning as Angellotti walked and stole second and third on consecutive pitches. she scored on an RBI fielders choice to first by Macy Guenot.
“I thought we did good. There are definitely things that we’re gonna work on, moving forward,” said Bellefonte coach Erica DeVinney.
It’s still early on for us, and, I think having a game like this early on and showing what we need to work on is a really good thing for us.”
Offensively, the bats came alive for the Raiders as they plated three runs to cut into the Eagles lead.
Abby Herr led off the inning with a single back up the middle. Aralynn Carson blasted a shot to left. Rorie Roan singled in Herr while Carson moved to third.

Madison Kellogg stood strong in the batters box and blasted an RBI single down the third base line, cutting the Eagles lead to 6-2. Rounding out the scoring was Sloan Moore’s sacrifice fly scoring Roan. Going into the fifth, the Red Raiders were in striking distance at 5-3.
But the Eagles had the final say as they scored a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to go on to the 10-3 Laurel Highlands victory.
