Bellefonte junior high track sweeps meet with Penns Valley, Central

The Bellefonte junior high track and field team swept it’s tri-meet this past Thursday with Penns Valley and Central on both the boys and girls side.

Both teams move to 5-1 on the season.

The Bellefonte boys beat Central, 101-68, and Penns Valley, 105-54. Penns Valley lost to Central, 86-64. In girls competition, Bellefonte beat Central, 96-61, and Penns Valley, 110-51. Central beat Penns Valley, 89-70.

Warren Donmoyer won two tight races in the 100 and 200 to pace the boys team, but the story of the day was strong performances across the board. There were several event sweeps of the top-3 spots against both teams in the 800 (Bowen Williams, Teagan Detar, Max Karosas), high jump (Max Holsinger, Konrad Herr, Parker Snook), and triple jump (Isaac Speerstra, Easton Quinn, Cooper Smith). Other event winners included Sam Pollick (110 hurdles), Konrad Herr (pole vault), Owen Behler (shot put) and Jacob Schellenberg didscus). The boys also took first in the 400 relay.

Like the boys, the girls had a balanced day with many unique event winners led by Ainsley McHail in high and long jumps.

Long jump was another sweep with Molly Tyson and Camryn Miller taking second and third place, respectively. Charlie Davidson also led a sweep of the 300 hurdles with Isabella Oravis and Adelina Zanzalari close behind. Other event winners included Katie Spotts (100 hurdles), Claire Halterman (400), Alissa Kyte-Yech (800), Isabella Oravis (shot put) and Natalie Kulago (discus). The girls also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
