HOLLIDAYSBURG – Despite a strong, four-run surge in the game’s final inning, the Bellefonte softball team wasn’t able to carry that momentum into a win. Hollidaysburg responded with one run to break the tie, walking it off to defeat the Red Raiders in front of its home crowd, 8-7.

Two Red Raiders in Peyton Rimmey and Ella Herr managed to belt a ball over the wall for a homer, with Rimmey leading the team in RBIs with four while finished 2-for-4. Sloan Moore also finished with two hits, contributing a double and getting home twice.

It was an up-and-down day for Bellefonte’s bullpen, which saw starter Abby Herr and reliever Adrienne Masullo combine for 14 strikeouts while allowing 11 hits. Two Golden Tigers finished with three hits to give them headaches, with Maggie Hicks belting a homer of her own and finishing with three RBIs.

Since starting 2-0, the Bellefonte softball team has now dropped two heartbreakers in a row, having previously fallen to Bellwood-Antis by one run last Wednesday. The Red Raiders will look to put an end to that two game skid at Central Cambria on Friday, with that matchup set for 5 p.m.
