CM Middle School track team does well in season opener

MILL HALL — If the opening meet of the season is meant to shake off rust, someone forgot to tell the Central Mountain Middle School girls track and field team.This past Thursday, the Wildcats secured a solid 111-11 victory over Shamokin.

There were many first place multiple winners Alanna Hosley (800, 1,600, 1,600 relay, 3,200 relay), Madelyn Rogers (shot put, discus, 1,600 relay), Lauren Young (100, 200, 400 relay) Rylee Williamson (high jump, 1,600 relay, 3,200 relay) Amelya Sox (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Karlee Edwards (long jump, 400 relay), Abby Filla (400, triple jump), Averi Daniels (400 relay), Hadley Crawford (400 relay), Sophia Bird (3,200 relay), Taylor Halfhill (3,200 relay), Hanna Johnston (1,600 relay).

Many athletes achieved personal bests in their events which is pleasant payoff for their hard work and dedication.

In a back and forth battle all meet with Shamokin, the Central Mountain Middle School boys lost by the narrowest margin, 62-61. Led by Bryson Weikel’s three first place finishes (3,200 relay, 800, high jump) and Landon Herman’s firsts in the 200 and 400.

Other first plce finishes included Jackson Stout (3,200 relay) Levi Albright (3,200 relay) Preston Hall (300m hurdles) and Rowan Weikel (1,600).

The Central Mountain Middle School coaches were very pleased with the entire team’s effort.
